"A double-bacon cheeseburger." He raises an eyebrow at her as he plucks another french fry from its so-named holster. "With 'the works', whatever those may be."
"As well you should." Loki flashes her a wicked grin; his own burger had been devoured before she had even made peace with trying her own. "It's sin between two slices of nearly nutritionless bread. It is hedonistic indulgence made food."
She'd finished nearly half of her burger before she managed to stop and speak again. It was clear by the look on her face just how well she was enjoying it all. "I was not aware that the mortals had such delightful food at their fingertips."
"They have many and more delightful things than simply such delicious burgers." His eyes flash wickedly, smile wide. "They have roller coasters, and water parks, and astoundingly bizarre television programs where average members of their society submit themselves routinely for public humiliation on the largest possible scale, and they have the most darling form of entertainment in their political "campaigns" -- by my troth I've ne'er told so many thick, fat lies so quick as in one of their debates."
Oh, Loki finds Earth hilarious -- though it's most often a laughing-at situation instead of a laughing-with; it's like his own personal theme park at the moment, Earth-World-Land!, and all the rides, if you played it right, could be free.
His colorful description of Midgard and the actions of the mortals upon it causes her to laugh. Still the idea that this Realm held attractions that could ease the boredom she felt for being upon it, held her curiosity
"Now these programs you speak of do have my interest, I believe they would be something rather fun to witness." it was needless to say that Sigyn herself had a mischievous streak of her own "And these parks and coasters you have mentioned could be something else worth seeing. Perhaps you could indulge me in one, or the the other?"
"There is something most soothingly primal about the glee these humans take in making sport of those who choose to be on these programs." Oh, she does -- and thank all things sacred that she does. Loki, mercurial by nature and capricious by design (and most likely afflicted with a god-sized case of ADD), was not a creature ever meant for something to long-term as marriage. Even a marriage such as gods have.
But when things are playful, with the idea of taking her to an "amusement park" -- a term he finds charmingly quaint -- before him, his scattered thoughts come tumbling back home, and he gives her his most charming and playful smile. "I shall indeed, and this very afternoon if you would like. But only if you promise to be on your very best behaviour." The last is said with a grin, as though his own behaviour were not ever worry to anyone at all.
"Mortals do seem to one of the most sadistic beings within the Realm. Perhaps it is merely their short life spans which lead them to do such strange things." she shakes her head, grabbing a fry and chewing it over as she thought. She had heard of most things the mortals did with their lives and she never found herself lacking in amazement
"Me behave?" she gasps in false shock. No stranger to illusions of her own she quickly changed her appearance to be a little more suitable for Midgard. "I am always on my best behavior." except for that one instance... And perhaps that other one that doesn't need mentioning "But I would very much like to go this afternoon."
"They do seem to need to pack as much into each day as possible, don't they? As they know how few they have."
He laughs, bright and delighted. "Oh, but of course you are, always and more." He's having quite the god day, here in this strange little restaurant with the hard plastic benches. "Then we shall, indeed."
"They truly do, their lives are so fleeting that any day could be their very last. Though they do put themselves foolishly at such great risks." she shakes her head though she smiles.
"Good." her smile grows wider as she looks down at their finished food "And when shall we be doing this? Now? Or is there something else you would like me to see before we go to one of these amusement parks?"
"It is the thrill they seek -- and these are called 'thrill rides', upon which I will take you, it seems: the know their time is short, yet none truly understands that they are mortal creatures who will soon meet their ends. It is too much for them to grasp, and so they search for that rush of danger, court it."
He laughs. "So many things to see, but I leave it to your opinion. I shall play obliging host to your whims today; if there is more you would first see but tell me and we shall hunt it down."
"They truly are strange creatures, daring perhaps, to court something so dangerous to their well being." she gives him a half confused-half amused look
"As for your offer to take me wherever I should wish? I believe I will allow you to play guide. Whatever it is you wish to show me, I will gladly follow you with much enthusiasm." perhaps an enthusiasm that could match that of Volstagg finding mass quantities of food
"True enough indeed, though I can understand the appeal of such washes of adrenaline. I have enjoyed such in battle my own self -- upon other invigorating occasions."
Now that would be a might enthusiasm indeed. "I have two choices dancing in my mind -- one a bit more strictly thrilling, and one that is iconic of these people, and their hopes and dreams."
"Ice cream! This is vanilla. The three most common flavors ever are vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, but there's tons of variations out there. Just don't eat it too fast or you'll get brainfreeze." Rainbow Dash smiled, cheerfully licking at her own cone. "You're lucky you got here during ice cream season. Nobody eats this stuff in winter."
she gives her ice cream cone another tentative lick "The cold reminds me of Jotunheim.."
she hesitates, licks the ice cream again and scrunches her face up as though trying to decide if she was a fan or not "What is the best flavor? I am not sure how I feel about this one."
"Well, everybody has a favorite, but no one flavor is the universal best. If the vanilla's a little plain, I can ask for the mini spoonful samplers. Try out something else... I like peanut butter chocolate, my friend Rarity likes raspberry cheesecake... There's a lot of options." A lot. Best to try bit by bit, lest they get overwhelmed.
"It is! Chocolate is really addictive and really good, and it comes in all kinds of forms. Here, I'll go get you a chocolate cone. Dipped in hard chocolate. That oughta do it!" Confident in her choice, Rainbow Dash ran over to the ice cream store and paid gleefully for another cone, presenting it to her with a wide smile. "My mom used to get these for me all the time when she was still around. This is good, trust me."
Her eyebrows lift as she sets the other cone aside in order to inspect the new chocolate one. It was a curiosity to say the least, if this was such a wonderful food why had it not found its way to Asgard before now. Carefully she takes a lick of the ice cream, a bit of the chocolate on the outside hitting her tongue at the same time inviting her to take a tiny bite.
Her eyes widen as she lets the chocolate and ice cream melt. "This is... This is fantastic! Surely this is a food that has come from the halls of Valhalla itself!"
"Nope! Pure Midgard, right there. South America, specifically, but they export it like crazy. People love chocolate. You wouldn't believe the kinda stuff we can make out of it. When you've eaten your cone we'll go to Starbucks and get you hot chocolate - you can drink it." She smiles, pleased she's managed to make someone happy. "You gotta get back to Midgard for Valentine's Day! It's like a day of chocolate appreciation. Or Halloween, that's closer on the calendar..."
She blinks, drinkable chocolate. This had to be better than the coffee she had heard Thor speaking of once he returned to Asgard. There was no conceivable way coffee could beat out chocolate "I have not really heard of these days which you speak of.. Halloween I have heard mentions of back home, however this.. Valen.. Valentine's day?"
she shakes her head and enjoys a bit more of her ice cream "Mortals do have strange tastes and holidays."
"Valentine's Day! You give your friends and your true love chocolate. And sometimes flowers. It's an awesome holiday. Don't you have anything like that back home?"
"We have so many celebrations it is hard to know what they are all for." smiling she looks at her ice cream almost saddened she had eaten so much of it already "We also have long lives so for us to celebrate one day a year towards our true loves, or even our friends may seem a bit silly to some."
"We do our best to, though sometimes it is not always easy. In the past it was harder, we were in constant war with another Realm, it was hard for any of us to find much happiness." she takes another bite of her ice cream, making a soft, pleasant noise at the taste
"I believe each Realm is filled with beings that offer plenty of confusions to those not used to them. However I suppose that is what makes them all so interesting."
