That's difficult to say for sure. We'll always be on alert, of course.

Of course. After all that I hope we can catch a break. Manhattan needs a break. [A small smile.]

( Maria returns the smile with a wry one of her own. ) We can only hope. Baddies tend to enjoy throwing Manhattan under the bus.

I'd say it'd be nice if they'd pick on another city for a change but it'd really be best if it never happened anywhere.

I'd much prefer if we managed to just have all of them duke it out amongst themselves.

That does sound like a better plan, then whoever's left will be easy to pick off. Even better if we could round them all up to one location... less cleanup that way.

Good plan, Mr. Potts. We'll have to see to that immediately.

I just hope the team doesn't get too bored, waiting for the bad guys to duke it out.

I'm certain we'll find something for them to do. They'll have to help rounding up said baddies.

This is true. Unfortunately it wouldn't be as simple as tricking them all to show up at the same place at the same time.

Not everyone gets to have a magic glowing staff, after all.

May. 10th, 2012 11:45 pm (UTC)
I don't really think I'm a magic glowing staff kind of girl.

Neither am I. Pretty sure most of us aren't suited to that kind of thing.

Leave it up to crazy 'gods,' I guess.

I think I'd prefer Thor's hammer. [Pause. She's spent enough time around Tony to know that sounds suspiciously like a euphemism.] From a practicality standpoint.

Hopefully. [She also hopes it doesn't. Otherwise, she wouldn't know what to do with herself]

There's enough to do that the bad guys can take a break for a while. Tony and I are going over repairs for Stark Tower.

Are you keeping yourself busy now that the day has been saved?

Mostly exploring New York again. Seeing what's changed in the past few decades.

A lot, I'm sure. City that never sleeps, and all.

May. 10th, 2012 10:55 pm (UTC)
Oh yeah. Lots to see. Pigeons and hot dog vendors are the same though.

May. 10th, 2012 10:56 pm (UTC)
Some things never do change. Personally I'd be pretty upset if the hot dog vendors went away. The pigeons are negotiable.

Soemtimes I wonder if I should drop by the USO and see if I could help out there.

May. 10th, 2012 11:05 pm (UTC)
I'm sure they could use the help. And the cleanup effort here in Manhattan is still ongoing, there have been calls going around for volunteers.
msrogers
May. 10th, 2012 11:09 pm (UTC)
Probably will head down and volunteer for that too.

I know I'm the last person who should be saying something like this, but do you ever take a break?

May. 10th, 2012 11:27 pm (UTC)
[she quiets] Taking breaks gives me time to think about things...

[Pepper knows just enough about the other woman's history to nod in understanding.] Ah, I see. Sometimes keeping busy is definitely better, then.

Thank you, miss Potts.

With all the construction we need to get done? Not likely.

May. 10th, 2012 11:46 pm (UTC)
Point. But that's better than seeing everything get smashed up again.

May. 11th, 2012 12:13 am (UTC)
Depends on how much you like everything.

I was thinking. You know that imprint of Loki the Hulk left in our floor? Can we encase that in glass or something? To remember them by?

May. 11th, 2012 12:15 am (UTC)
I like Manhattan enough to not want to see it get destroyed twice in my lifetime.

[She chuckles quietly.] We could probably do that. Do you want a little sign to commemorate such a historical landmark?
stark_resilient
May. 11th, 2012 12:48 am (UTC)
A classy sign? One even Loki could look at and appreciate? One with a lot of gold?

Yeah. I want one of those.
averyrarewoman
May. 11th, 2012 12:50 am (UTC)
A classy sign, plated with gold. Maybe a replica of that... horny helmet he wears? [She's taking notes, shaking her head in amusement.] I'll see what we can do.
stark_resilient
May. 11th, 2012 01:18 am (UTC)
[Tony laughs.] That would be awesome.

Oh, and hey. Maybe we should have a party with the guys and have a pinata version of the, uh.. The horn thing. [He points his fingers at his forehead and then shakes his head.]

His horny helmet, yeah.
averyrarewoman
May. 11th, 2012 01:27 am (UTC)
[Still taking notes, catching glances at Tony.] A pinata of the horny helmet... I'm sure we could do that.

It could be set up after we finish the repairs to Stark Tower. Give us a little time to plan?

May. 11th, 2012 01:49 am (UTC)
Our grand re-opening.

We'll have to have lots of ale. We want Thor to come, after all.
averyrarewoman
May. 11th, 2012 01:54 am (UTC)
Grand re-opening, I like that.

Do you think it might be a little insensitive to have Loki's helmet as a pinata given Thor's past with him?
stark_resilient
May. 11th, 2012 03:06 am (UTC)
[Tony hesitates.]

Damn it.

[He wanted a Loki-inspired pinata.]

How about a chitauri pinata?
averyrarewoman
May. 11th, 2012 11:16 am (UTC)
That might work. I'll ask around about the other idea. [Because she can tell how much he wants one.] Maybe Thor will be okay with it.

May. 11th, 2012 01:29 am (UTC)
Probably not, ma'am.

A few days ago, a pretty wise man said that there are always men like Loki. I think he's right, unfortunately.
averyrarewoman
May. 11th, 2012 01:34 am (UTC)
Yeah, I guess so. But you guys deserve at least a small break. So does Manhattan, you all took a beating.
firstavenger
May. 11th, 2012 01:44 am (UTC)
Yeah, cleaning up Manhattan definitely needs to be a priority right now.

And my ribs would be lying if they didn't agree with the need to take a break.

May. 11th, 2012 01:54 am (UTC)
Tony and I are still working on plans for repairing the damage to Stark Tower, we've been busy with that.

And he's hurting too, even if he's too stubborn to admit it.

May. 11th, 2012 04:19 am (UTC)
I hope you're able to fix that, ma'am. From what I saw before hand, it was quite impressive. I'm sorry we weren't able to stop it from getting damaged.

He took quite a beating in that battle. It was pretty brave. [Braver than Steve had given him credit for, that's for certain.]

May. 11th, 2012 11:18 am (UTC)
Oh, we should have things back in order soon. It's okay.

Really, I was more concerned that everyone would come out of the fight in one piece. You all were great.

[Thor tips his head to look down at Pepper, his expression both sincere and faintly confused - the meaning of her words is lost on him.]

This part of your realm is loud indeed.
averyrarewoman
May. 11th, 2012 10:30 pm (UTC)
[She chuckles quietly, nodding.] Yes, New York City is very loud. But um, what I really mean is if things are going to be calmer.
